Clip of Poca Agua y Coco Nada

Poca Agua y Coco Nada
digital video
2017

Featured here are stills from my video depicting my uncle cutting down coconuts from the coconut trees in my backyard. Then, you see my mother and her siblings, and my grandmother towards the end, eating the coconuts and sharing stories and jokes. This video is simply a study of the culture my family experiences as part of everyday life. The beauty of a coconut and the joy of community and family surrounding a treat. The title, meaning "little water and no coconut" in spanish is something my aunt says in the film referring to the disappointment of opening up a stale or empty coconut.
