After Irma in FL
photography and sound piece
2017

Hurricane Irma was predicted to be one of the worst storms to hit South Florida since Andrew of '92. Like many other Floridians, my parents decided to evacuate and so they took my father's truck and headed north to NYC. The morning they arrived, which was also the moment in which the storm our area the worst, we found out my grandmother passed away in the hospital.

I decided to travel back with my family, all four of us crammed in that small truck cabin, to attend the funeral. During the process I documented with my camera my family and the trip. Then, using only recordings of that trip to South Florida, tried to recreate what preparing for, and living through, Irma might've sounded like.
